Nedlands - slick greens make for a long day

Nedlands - Stableford

This week was the Nedlands Golf Course, a reasonably nice 9 hole course, however the greens were so slick it made things very tricky. Many players putted from off one side to off the other and back again and so on until they wiped. This sort of ‘thing‘ kept the scores low with no one making handicap and half the group under 25.

There were some highlights though, one was myself , teeing off first on the 282 m par 4 and driving straight down the middle and through the green, hitting the pin on the chip up and tapping in a birdie. Not to be outdone on the Par 4, 262m 6th down to the bottom corner, Hoops hit the perfect drive down the left which followed the contours of the fairway and rolled up on the super fast green just missing the flag and stopping about 3 metres away. An easy N2 and tap in birdie.

He followed that up on the next, a par 3 with a NTP, he then putted and states that Hammo’s ball was ok where it was ( about 2 feet off the line on the wrong side ) . Famous last words, he hit Hammo's ball and moved his further away to the left, 2 shot penalty!!! But his sinks the next for 4.

Hammo gets a mention for no 3 putts all day. If the goal was wipes, Jack , Trev and I could represent Australia with about 6 each.

Heiney was the best of the bunch scoring pretty well, winning on 33 with the Pirate and Hoops separated by a count back. Hoops had a day out on the NTPs, pretty close to a record I think 🤔.
