Doug's late season form continues

Hartfield - Stableford

This week was played at Hartfield and the course was in great condition.

After finishing al square last week, Stafford and Rob replayed their Matchplay final. The game was up and down at the start before Stafford started to pull away by winning holes by the barest of margins to go 4 up at the turn. Rob has some bad luck in the bunkers, but never gave up as he had some sensational recovery shots on just about every hole. Stafford hit some long drawing 4 irons into a few holes which turned out to be the difference. There was glimmer of hope when being 5 up with 6 to play and having to give away 3 shots. Stafford’s tee shot went about 30m forward along the ground hit a staked tree came directly back towards us all to about 30m behind the tee box ... in the bush. It took 3 shots to get it past the original starting point. But Stafford held on though the remaining holes to win 5 and 4.

Doug was the best of the field with his steady play. His drives were all on the fairway and knowing his game inside out, he never really found much trouble. 37 was a great score around a difficult course. Norm gave the 2 iron a work out and stayed clear of trouble, whilst Hammo had a par / wipe day with only one two pointer! The bunkers came into play and he had some trouble with those.

All focus now towards the Club Championship !
