US Open greens in Perth? In Winter??

El Caballo - Stableford

This week was a trip up the hill to El Caballo. It’s a course with arguably the best layout around with creeks, bunkers and lakes strategically placed on every hole to catch out anyone slightly astray. The course was in good condition as usual but just shy of its potential as it needs a bit more money pumped into it to bring the fairways up to speed. The greens however were true and like lightening, the fastest we have seen anywhere as per the below attached videos, with some holes on the back nine unplayable.

(MP: Our web host doesn't seem to like embedded videos, so I had to resort to links to google drive. )

Marc Ellis put in a great first nine with 23 points to set up a victory, his swing was smooth and steady all day. Pete kept the good run going with a 30 points and as usual Jamie Fitzpatrick was at the pointy end of the group took home 3rd place.

Hammo and Craig had a great battle (not a Matchplay) for NAGA, as with 2 holes to go Hammo had 1 point on the back and Craig had two, Hammo pulled himself together the best with a couple of bogies whilst Craig didn’t do anything and finished equal lowest score ever 18 points which included 8 wipes and 3 one pointers.

If anyone hasn’t played there I suggest they do next year it’s a great course and very challenging!
