Everybody goes low at Monthly Medal

Collier - Stroke

This week was stroke and the third installment of the Golden Putter. Further to this, four groups had their first round of Matchplay. Probably not the best conditions to test the pace of play. This was recently questioned by the committee as the club is taking around 20 to 30 mins longer than it should for 18 holes.

The conditions were perfect for great scores, with 11 of 17 players recording handicap flag rounds. However aside from Stafford whom was scoring well all day; it took the first nine to get things going. Mike was three over after 2 but lifted to finish gross 79. Notable mentions on the back nine were Dave Ovel (one under after 6 holes finishing on 37) and Craig with a 36 going one over the last 10 holes. (And securing 3rd on a count back with Mike rueing his poor start)

While Craig was tap in paring everything, Basil wasn’t far behind as he flew under the radar for a gross 84 with just 28 putts. Stafford had the long and short game under control this week and was the winner overall.

The Matchplay was great side issue.

Peter and Scott both struggled with luckless rounds. Scott had two findable balls that mysteriously vanished and Peter himself in or behind too many loathed bunkers. It was a back and forth battle with only 3 holes halved all day, with Scott winning the final hole to square the match.

Doug just got Stafford on the wrong day losing 5 and 4.

Rob Mathias and Trevor Bindon see-sawed with Rob prevailing 2 up.

Dave Ovel extracted revenge for last years quarter final loss defeating Rob Mizen 3 and 2.

But the big result was Jamie going back to back knocking out Hammo for the second year in a row. 4 and 2

In other news, the mid season function is well under way so please get back to Doug by the April 14th with your numbers.
