This week was again, real golf, with stroke which coincides with another round of the Golden Putter and Monthly Medal thrown in. In the side competition were Jamie Pickles and Jamie Fitzpatrick playing their Match Play. Conditions were perfect however Craig M jinxed it with the comment “When conditions are this good we always find the scores are terrible ! “ , He wasn’t far off as only two people managed to break their handicap.

As usual with stroke there is always a common theme whereby people have a great round undone by just one or two holes, Craig M with a 5 and 6 on two Par 3’s in a row ruined his chances, Dave Ovel was in a similar boat going 4 over for the front 9 and then some double bogies on the back ruined his. Laurie is true to his word always playing with someone on the podium, himself and Rob Mizen. Both just played along never really falling into any holes and doing the all the right things, Hammo was not far off with a Net 73, the new clubs were going well and he only had 30 putts.

Jamie Pickles took out the Matchplay 8 and 7, there was just nothing going right for Jamie Fitzpatrick, the odd off shot and some bad luck had him behind for the first 7 holes and there was no coming back. The highlight of the day for Jamie Pickles was an Eagle on the Par 5 Pines 7th, a nice down hill putt that never wanted to stop wiggled its way down to the hole from off the green for a 3 for 4 and a no putt. It was great to watch.
