Back-To-Back wins for Gibson!

This week was one of the most anticipated courses on the fixtures , “The Cut “ , a short yet complex course with no margin for error as anything off the fairway is basically lost or unplayable at best , the greens are hard to read and quick . This year we had good weather with only a small amount of wind on the odd occasion (sounds like some of the older members !) . There were 3 non starters , Dennis whom looked the goods ..... alone at Collier (Dipstick nomination maybe), Norm whom hurt his back just hours before the game after entertaining a few people at his Mandurah beach house and Nigel whom unfortunately ran into some trouble in Northbridge.

Not wanting to put on any extra pressure , Dave Ovel and Marc Ellis played Matchplay with Dave coming out on top 3 and 1 , after a good start by Dave , Marc was able to hold his own through the next 12 or so holes keeping the pressure on . Finishing on 34 points Dave was just edged out on count back from 3rd place by Craig . Pete was 2nd in a game that would have been good to see . Not known for his delicate touch it’s second time this year he has produced great games on ruthless courses ( Rockingham being the last ). Lawrie was right again , always playing with the winner or someone on the podium and again it was himself with a great score of 38 (that's back-to-to back, can he go for the third?). Rob says it’s down to swimming training a few times a week. We also had two visitors which was good to see , Darrell Maroney and Tony Campbell, hope you both enjoyed yourselves.

In Other news

it’s a good time to review a common rule that keeps coming up in the past few weeks , “ the unplayable ball or lie “

In such a case you have 3 options . All with a one shot penalty 1) Take a drop within two club lengths no nearer to the hole 2) Take the ball back as far as you like keeping a straight line between the position the ball landed and the flag , or

3) Take a shot back where the original ball was hit .

It’s been much discussed and part of the reason for some slow play . As a club we need to improve on the pace of play by around 30mins.
