This week was the love it or hate it Par competition with 3 Matchplay games on the side. Interestingly Lawrie made a tongue in cheek request at the last committee meeting that Par should be held only once a year . Hopefully that day would be today as he played a great game and won the day on +5 . His weekly prediction came true again as he says he always play with the winner , added to that Craig suggested he has played with someone on the podium for the past 3 weeks , then added , it’s himself . Dave Thomas and Jamie Fitzpatrick played in the second group and struck the ball well all day with some great drives and consistent short games with Dave on + 4 and Jamie on +3 . Jamie had the extra incentive as he was playing Hammo in one of the Matchplay ‘s . Both left the door open a few times for each other but in the end, there was not a lot Hammo could do giving away 11 shots and Jamie was parring holes winning 3 and 2 , In the other Matchplay the results were polar opposites with Rob Mathias ( the master of the one putt and chip ins ) winning 6 and 4 over Ryan whom was unlucky with a few putts just missing whilst Jamie Pickles went 1 up over Doug in a close match . Jamie and Craig did two things today that are very rare , Jamie took out 5 novelties and went close to a clean sweep . Craig on the other hand did something never seen in golf on any stage . He missed a Par put that lipped out and sat on the high side lip of the hole . In disbelief he walked heavily toward the ball waiting for it to drop , in the over head view you could see 1/3 of the ball hanging over the hole . Needing that extra nudge amongst the complaining , as he put the putter behind the ball he actually hit the top it of causing it to move ...... no where as it settles in the same spot .......so to have missed the smallest putt in history it put him in a downward spiral finishing on -10 , well and truely NAGA .
