The Return of the Douglas!

This week was the next instalment of the Monthly Medal and Golden Putter under the sometimes feared Stroke format . The weather though took centre stage as play was delayed by an hour due to heavy rain and thunderstorms coming through .

Once play started a few loud cracks and some lightening that looked to close for comfort caused some sideways eyes between experienced campaigners Dennis, Hammo, Dave and Craig and a brief discussion “ Um should we be out here ???? “ to which the answer was “ Yeah I suppose, it should be ok ... I think “ and Craig asking Hammo to hold his clubs ... for no reason.

The weather and stroke caused a few issues none more so than Pete who turned 31 over the card . It was as good to see the return of Dave Ovel and Doug Stewart after lengthy lay offs. Both didn’t disappoint with some good scoring and consistency.

For the third straight week Lawrie made good on his prediction stating that he always plays with the winner and if not someone on the podium. This week was no exception as playing partner Rob Mizen negotiated his way around the course for a Net 70 however an 8 on the last caused a count back which didn’t go his way.

That honour went to Doug as he played the percentages and his ever reliable short game proved the difference. Basil also played well and is working on a new swing , his 3rd result proved a positive step forward . Pete somehow dodged the NAGA as Mike Newman has a shocker with a net 92 .
