Easter Sunday was played at the Nedlands Golf Club, a nine hole course that is very challenging with a reputation of having fast greens that are sometimes unreadable. It was fair to say that was the case this week with most of the players having a story about a ball that would not stop. As with most away clubs a winning score would be lower that most weeks at Collier and it was the case again. Norm displayed the most course management skills choosing the most appropriate clubs (not a driver) and adjusting to the fast but true greens. Hammo wasn’t far behind in second place in a countable from Ryan whom regrettably wiped the last.
The majority of the players finished in the mid to high 20’s, a special mention though goes to Garth whom was having all sort of trouble on the 1st nine , nothing seemed to be going right for him ( caught behind or at the base of trees , on the lips of bunkers or back tiers of greens ) and he was at the turn with 7 points . New nine new game, was never a truer comment as he came out with Par, Eagle, Birdie, Par for 13 points in which two of the holes he didn’t get shots, it was a great display of power hitting and touch around the greens and a pleasure to watch as he finished with 22 for the nine 29 for 4th place and all with 6 wipes.
It was great to see Jamie Fitzpatrick complete his nomination form after submitting the appropriate amount of cards and scores; he will be a great addition to the club. A thanks goes out to Pete Tallon whom arranged and paid for bottle opener key rings with the club logo for every one.
