The first game of the year had some significance as it is the beginning of the clubs 50thseason. The President, Craig, hit the first ball straight and long down the middle, over the course of the year there will be a few events, shirts and novelties to mark the occasion and important dates in the clubs history. All will be revealed by Doug in good time.
It is credit to reach 50 years as a club as it doesn’t take long when you ask around various players whom for a story regarding other clubs folding. Even when numbers are high the framework is quite fragile, so without new members coming on board each year and current members putting in the time to join the committee any club is susceptible to failure. So it was appositive thing to see 4 potential members out for round 1,
Marc Ellis, Peter Fitzpatrick, Jamie Fitzpatrick, and Ricky Du Toit
Back to golf ….6 groups in total and what can I say, it was winding back the clock, Paul Heine was in fine form, some long drives and great recovery shots to take out the win on 41 points, the every reliable Laurie wasn’t far behind with 39 and the hard hitting James on 37 points whom put up some great NTP’s in difficult positions.
