Round 11 - ANZAC Day Trophy

To start to day Ian Havenstein provided the club with an amasing ANZAC service once again. I must say that all the 4 ex diggers in the club were once again very grateful for not only an amasing service but the ongoing commitment to run the service for the club each year. Great work mate. As the Captain stated in the presentations the highlight of the day. Congratulations to the members also for turning up early and being a critical part of the service. Well done lads. Special mention to 2 of our members Norm and Pete who not only served in the Army but actually went to war and did us all proud. Its an honor to have both of you in our club.

The scoring on ANZAC Day trophy round was out of control with 9 members playing better or to their handicap. Good old digger spirt I'm putting it down to. Not getting on the dais but who played very well were - Grandad (Hammo) 38, Basil 37, Scobes 37 (Thinking about your dad) Mr Ex President Markham 36, Gibbo 36 (Bugger me you hit along shot) and ex Digger Scotty 36. (Shame your Artillery - Drop Short) .

But the day belonged to Nigel. What a round with 21 points on the front 9 and a little shaky start to the second 9 came home with 5 straight Pars between the 13th and the 17th to get accross the line with 42 points and win the ANZAC day trophy.

One of our newest members Luke had a great back 9 with 22 points - 2 Birdies and 4 Pars to just come up short with 40 points.

To close out the dais was big hitting Johnny who I,m sure is still having nightmares about the wipe on the 17th to close out with a 39 point round.

From all the 4 of us Ex Diggers we really appreciate the effort the club puts into ANZAC Day well done to all.
